Wednesday, October 4

Okee-dokee; so here we go with another beautiful day. One I am loving and thanking our Lord for. I am constantly reminded of this poem, Footprints; it's one of my favorites and I even cross-stitched part of it for a picture in my son's room. I want to share it with you, just in case, some of you may not know what poem I'm thinking of.
Footprints

One night I dreamed a dream. I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord. When the last scene shot before me I looked back at the footprints in the sand and to my surprise, I noticed that many times along the path of my life there was only one set of footprints. I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life. This always bothered me and I questioned my Lord about my dilemma. "Lord, you told me that when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way. But I am aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You leave me." He whispered,"My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints it was then that I carried you."

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Don't Worry, Get Happy

Happy, successful people have learned how to live their best life now. They make the most of what they've got right now instead of dwelling on how things won't work or they need something else to be happy that they don't have. Phooey!!!! Like I said yesterday, unfortunately for some, someday never comes. I learned that the hard way, I guess. I watched my parents as I was growing up. They were both good people...my mom stayed at home and took care of the house and us kids. My dad worked hard at his job, providing well for us but always chasing the carrot of success. They worked and saved for "someday"...someday when the kids were grown and they could finally afford to take off and do what they wanted. Dad might retire and they would get to take that vacation they never took before. Well...someday never came. Both my parents died when I was 14. It was then that I realized that we can never know what the future holds so we have to live for right now. No more putting off happiness until some future date. You have to be happy NOW!!!!! I'm sure somewhere I've said it before and I will say it again----today is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Sunday, October 1

OMG, I really have to get better at this blogging thing. I have so many ideas and so little time to write them down. Today is Sunday; I had a great exprience at church today and I learned a lot. Let me see if I can share any of those ideas with you.
The simplest way to convey what I learned today is to tell you that Happiness Is A Choice!!!!! A very good friend of ours was an elementary school principal. He is best remembered by his students as a principal who came over the loud speaker each morning before the students began their day and said " Today you have a choice. You can choose to be happy or choose to be unhappy. The choice is yours. It's up to you." You see, he knew that if you choose unhappiness then you are missing out on God's greatest abundance for your life. Enjoy your life! Life is too short not to be enjoying each day. Enjoy everything....everyone. Family, friends, work, all of it. "Happiness is a decision you make, not an emotion you feel." So, you might as well decide to be happy. Nothing good is going to come of the other. Things are not going to get better because you chose to get upset about them. Complaining and getting angry for something is not going change it. It is what it is. (Another great friend told me that) You have to be happy today. This is the day! "This is the day the Lord has made...let us rejoice and be glad in it" the psalmist tells us. So tell God, "I'm going to be happy with who you made me to be !" Bloom where you are planted. Make the very best of what God has given you already. When He sees you do, then He will trust you with more. and More! And More! AND More! AND MORE! Learn to be happy in spite of your circumstances...not because of your circumstances. Don't worry about the past; it's already gone, don't worry about the future; no one promises you you'll even have one, just live in right here, right now. That's why it's called the present...it's a gift from God to us. Aren't we lucky?
